The Most Prominent and Dominant Urdu Poet and Philosopher Mirza Ghalib (1797-1869)

The pen name of Mirza Asadullah Khan is Ghalib which means Dominance and he has proved in playing a dominant role in Urdu Poetry. Kudos to him.

Ghalib is one of the most popular and prolific poets of Urdu Shayari. His name is Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib who was born in Agra, India. His Father's name is  Mirza Abdullah Baig, married to Izzat-ut-Nisa Begum, an ethnic Kashmiri, and then lived at the house of his father-in-law. Mirza Ghalib's father was martyred in the fight while in the army of Raja Bakhtawar Singh of Alwar. His uncle also died at the age of nine and his younger brother got metally retarded and insane and passed away. Not a single child of Ghalib did survive. He nurtured his nephews (sons of his sister's son), but they too passed away in their youth.

Ghalib says his father and father were in the soldiers' profession and is not honored in the poetry
