ग़ैर पर लुत्फ़ मैं रहीन-ए-सितम

मुझ से आईना-ए-बज़्म-ए-यार न पूछ

दे दिया दर्द मुझ को दिल के एवज़

हाए लुत्फ़-ए-सितम-शिआर न पूछ

फिर हुई याद-ए-मय-कशी ताज़ा

मस्ती-ए-अब्र-ए-नौ-बहार न पूछ

मुझ को धोका है तार-ए-बिस्तर का

ना-तवानी-ए-जिस्म-ए-यार न पूछ

मैं हूँ ना-आश्ना-ए-वस्ल हुनूज़

मुझ से कैफ़-ए-विसाल-ए-यार न पूछ

Do not ask about the longing for the beloved,

Oh, that intense longing, do not ask about.

Do not ask about the colors of the garden when spring arrives,

The restlessness of the heart, do not ask about.

Do not ask about the sorrow of the nightingale,

The bitter outcome of spring, do not ask about.

In cruelty lies grace towards others,

Do not ask me about the gatherings of the beloved.

Having given me pain in exchange for my heart,

Oh, the favor of cruelty, the emblem, do not ask about.

Once again, the memory of intoxication emerged freshly,

The drunkenness of the new cloud and spring, do not ask about.

I have been deceived by the net of the bed once more,

The weakness of the body for the beloved, do not ask about.

I am still unfamiliar with the union,

Do not ask me about the ecstasy of meeting the beloved.
