Aadmi Nama 

دنیا میں بادشا ہے سو ہے وہ بھی آدمی
اور مفلس و گدا ہے سو ہے وہ بھی آدمی

زردار بے نوا ہے سو ہے وہ بھی آدمی
نعمت جو کھا رہا ہے سو ہے وہ بھی آدمی

ٹکڑے جو مانگتا ہے سو ہے وہ بھی آدمی

ابدال و قطب و غوث و ولی آدمی ہوئے
منکر بھی آدمی ہوئے اور کفر کے بھرے
کیا کیا کرشمے کشف و کرامات کے کیے
حتٰی کہ اپنے زہد و ریاضت کے زور سے

 خالق سے جا ملا ہے سو ہے وہ بھی آدمی

 فرعون نے کیا تھا جو دعویٰ خدائی کا
شداد بھی بہشت بنا کر ہوا خدا

نمرود بھی خدا ہی کہاتا تھا برملا
یہ بات ہے سمجھنے کی آگے کہوں میں کیا

یاں تک جو ہو چکا ہے سو ہے وہ بھی آدمی

 یاں آدمی ہی نار ہے اور آدمی ہی نور
یاں آدمی ہی پاس ہے اور آدمی ہی دور

کل آدمی کا حسن و قبح میں ہے یاں ظہور
شیطاں بھی آدمی ہے جو کرتا ہے مکر و زور

 

اور ہادی رہنما ہے سو ہے وہ بھی آدمی

 مسجد بھی آدمی نے بنائی ہے یاں میاں
بنتے ہیں آدمی ہی امام اور خطبہ خواں

پڑھتے ہیں آدمی ہی قرآن اور نماز یاں
اور آدمی ہی ان کی چراتے ہیں جوتیا

جو ان کو تاڑتا ہے سو ہے وہ بھی آدمی

یاں آدمی پہ جان کو وارے ہے آدمی
اور آدمی ہی تیغ سے مارے ہے آدمی
پگڑی بھی آدمی کی اتارے ہے آدمی
چلا کے آدمی کو پکارے ہے آدمی

اور سن کے دوڑتا ہے سو ہے وہ بھی آدمی
 اشراف اور کمینے سے لے شاہ تا وزیر

ہیں آدمی ہی صاحبِ عزت بھی اور حقیر
یاں آدمی مرید ہیں اور آدمی ہی پیر

اچھا بھی آدمی ہی کہاتا ہے اے نظیرؔ

اور سب میں جو برا ہے سو ہے وہ بھی آدمی

In the world, there are kings and they too are human,
And there are beggars and homeless people, and they too are human.

The wealthy landowners are human as well,
And those who enjoy blessings and prosperity are also human.

Those who beg for scraps are also human.

The saints and the pious, the righteous and the virtuous,
Even the deniers of truth and the full of disbelief,

They all performed great miracles and accomplished great feats,
Through their asceticism and their piety.

He who returns to the Creator is also human.

Pharaoh made claims of divinity,
And Shaddad, too, considered himself God.

Nimrod, similarly, proclaimed himself to be God.
It takes great understanding to comprehend this.

Whatever has happened is also human.

Man is both light and darkness,
Man is both close and far,

The beauty and ugliness of man are all present here,
And even the devil is human who employs deceit and power.

And the guide is also human.

Man has built the mosque here,
And the imams and preachers are all human.

Man recites the Quran and performs prayers here,
And it is also man who polishes their shoes.

Those who oppress them are also human.

Man kills man here,
And man takes life with a sword,

Man removes the turban of another man,
And man calls out to another man.

And, hearing this, he also runs, and he too is human.

From the high and the low, from the king to the minster
They are all human, whether honored or humble.
The disciples and the elders, they too are human,

From kings to ministers, all are human,
Both the respected and the lowly are human.

Here the followers are human, and the saints are human,
Oh Nazeer, even the good person is called human.

And whatever bad exists in everything, it is also human.
