By mistake, he must have gone
When Shaukat Thanvi's first ghazal was published, he opened the magazine and placed it on the table so that anyone passing by would notice it. However, misfortune struck, and his father was the first to notice. Upon reading the ghazal, he raised such a commotion as if he had caught a thief. He called Shaukat's mother and said, "Your son writes:
'Always others are honored in your gathering
We become humiliated and disgraced in your street.'
I ask, why does he go there at all? Whom does he ask before going?"
Shaukat's poor mother, frightened, replied in a trembling voice,
"By mistake, he must have gone."
After Shaukat Thanvi's first ghazal was published, his father, upon reading it, expressed great displeasure and questioned Shaukat's mother about why Shaukat would go to a place where he faces humiliation. The frightened mother replied that he must have gone there by mistake.
