پچھتا رہا ہوں نبض دکھا کر حکیم کو

ایک بار استاد قمر جلالوی کی ہم عصر شاعرہ وحیدہ نسیم صاحبہ (جو غربت کی وجہ سےاستاد کو کسی حد تک کمتر سمجھتی تھیں) نے طنزاً استاد سے کہا کہ قمر شاعر تو میں تمھیں تب مانوں جب تم مشاعرے میں ایک ہی شعر پڑھو اور محفل لوٹ لو۔

 استاد نے چیلنج قبول کرلیا۔

 کچھ ہی دنوں بعد ایک مشاعرہ ہوا جس میں یہ دونوں بھی مدعو تھے۔ وحیدہ نسیم اگلی صفوں میں بیٹھی تھیں۔

 استاد کی باری آئی تو استاد نے مائیک پر کہا:

 ’’خواتین وحضرات آج کسی کے چیلنج پر صرف ایک ہی شعر پڑھونگا ،آگے فیصلہ آپ لوگوں پر۔ یہ کہہ کر استاد نے پہلا مصرع پڑھا:

’’ پچھتا رہا ہوں نبض دکھا کر حکیم کو ‘‘

 بڑی واہ واہ ہوئی…

 استاد نے پہلا مصرع مکرر کیا لوگوں نے کہا:

 ’’پھر کیا ہوا استاد۔ آگے تو بتائیے‘‘

 اب استاد نے مکمل شعر پڑھا:

پچھتا رہا ہوں نبض دکھا کر حکیم کو

نسخے میں لکھ دیا ہے وحیدہ نسیم کو

 محفل میں دس منٹ تک تالیاں بجتی رہیں اور قہقہے لگتے رہے۔

 جب کچھ شور کم ہوا تو بے ساختہ لوگوں کی نظریں وحیدہ نسیم کی طرف گئیں، مگر وہ تو جانے کب کی غائب ہو چکی تھیں۔

 پچھتا رہا ہوں نبض دکھا کر حکیم کو

نسخے میں لکھ دیا ہے وحیدہ نسیم کو

"मुझे पछता है कि हकीम को नब्ज़ दिखा कर,

नस्खे में लिख दिया है वहीदा नसीम को।"

Once, a contemporary poet of Ustad Qamar Jalalvi, Wahida Naseem Sahiba (who considered the teacher somewhat inferior due to poverty) mockingly said to the teacher that Qamar is a poet, so I will believe you only when you recite a single poem in the mushaira and spoil the party. Love.

  The teacher accepted the challenge.

  A few days later there was a mushaira in which both of them were also invited. Wahida Naseem was sitting in the front rows.

  When the teacher's turn came, the teacher said on the mike:

  "Ladies and gentlemen, today I will read only one poem on someone's challenge, the decision is up to you guys. Having said this, the teacher recited the first stanza:

"I'm sorry for showing the pulse to Hakim"

  Big wow wow…

  The teacher repeated the first stanza and the people said:

  "Then what happened teacher?" Tell me next.

  Now the teacher read the entire poem:

I have been showing my pulse to Hakim

Wahida Naseem has been written in the prescription

  Applause and laughter continued in the party for ten minutes.

  When the noise subsided, people's eyes went towards Wahida Naseem, but she had disappeared.
