دل عبادت سے چرانا، اور جنت کی طلب

کام چور اس کام پر کس منہ سے اجرت کی طلب

حشر تک دل میں رہے اس سرو قامت کی طلب

یہ طلب ہے اپنی یارب! کس قیامت کی طلب

ہو مبارک خضرؑ کو سر چشمۂ آبِ بقا

ہے ہمیں آب دمِ تیغِ شہادت کی طلب

بڑھ گئی ہے عشق میں حرص اس قدر اپنی کہ

غم پہ غم کی آرزو حسرت پہ حسرت کی طلب

جو حلاوت زندگی کی چاہتا ہے چرخ سے

کاسۂ زہراب سے کرتا ہے شربت کی طلب

ہو کے دل غمزہ کا بسملِ ناز پر دیتا ہے دم

کرتا ہے آفت طلب آفت پہ آفت کی طلب

یاد ہیں صلب و شکم کی پہلی دونوں منزلیں

یاں کہاں وسعت کہ تُو کرتا ہے راحت کی طلب

گر گلستاں جہاں میں تنگ ہے تو غنچہ وار

کر کشادہ دل سے اپنے ذوقِ وسعت کی طلب

जो हलावत ज़िंदगी की चाहता है चर्ख से
कास-ए-ज़हराब से करता है शरबत की तलब

हो के दिल ग़मज़ा का बिस्मिल-ए-नाज़ पर देता है दम
करता है आफत तलब आफत पे आफत की तलब

याद हैं सलब ओ शकम की पहली दोनों मंज़िलें
याँ कहाँ वुसअत कि तू करता है राहत की तलब

Avoiding Worship and Desiring Heaven
A lazy person, how can they ask for a reward for this work

Desiring that tall, beautiful figure until the end of time
This is my desire, O Lord! What a great desire it is

Blessed is Khizr with the fountain of eternal water
We desire the water of the sword of martyrdom

My greed in love has grown so much that
Desiring sorrow upon sorrow, longing upon longing

Whoever desires the sweetness of life from the heavens
Asks for nectar from a cup of poison

Being wounded by a playful glance, dying at its beauty
Desiring calamity upon calamity

I remember the first two stages of hunger and thirst
Where is the space here for you to seek comfort

If the garden of the world feels narrow, then like a bud
Expand your heart and seek the pleasure of vastness

 SHEIKH IBRAHIM ZAUQ

Sheikh Muhammad Ibrahim Zauq, known by his pen name "Zauq," was a luminary of Urdu poetry and a profound scholar in the realms of literature, poetry, and religion. Born in Delhi in 1790 to a humble family, his early life was marked by adversity, yet he displayed an innate talent for poetry from a young age. Zauq's journey into the world of verse began in a maktab, where he was introduced to the art by Hafiz Ghulam Rasool, a poet himself, who bestowed upon him the pen name "Zauq." Despite limited resources and formal education, Zauq's passion for poetry continued to grow, leading him to Shah Naseer, a renowned poet of his time, who became his mentor. Zauq's dedication to his craft propelled him into the vibrant mushairas (poetry gatherings) of his era, where he quickly gained recognition. His poetic prowess attracted the attention of Meer Kazim Husain Beqarar, who was closely connected to Crown Prince Zafar. This connection would prove pivotal as it granted Zauq entry into the royal court. Over the years, Zauq's literary talents flourished, and he earned the prestigious position of the poet laureate at the Mughal Court, a role he held until his passing in 1854. His poetry is revered for its linguistic precision, mastery of difficult meters, and eloquent eulogies composed to seek royal patronage. Zauq's ghazals, known for their simplicity and ethical themes, bear testament to his deep religiosity. Despite being overshadowed by contemporaries like Ghalib, Zauq left an indelible mark on Urdu literature, and his legacy endures through his qasidas, ghazals, and mukhammas. His poetic style, distinct from that of Ghalib, is celebrated for its melodious language and memorable phrases. Beyond his literary contributions, Zauq's rivalry with Ghalib is a well-documented aspect of Urdu poetry's history, and his enduring influence continues to be celebrated in both literature and popular culture. Today, the memory of Sheikh Muhammad Ibrahim Zauq lives on as a testament to the enduring power of Urdu poetry and its capacity to elevate a humble youth into a revered figure in the annals of literary history. - 

शेख़ इब्राहीम ज़ौक़

اب تو گھبراکے یہ کہتے ہیں کہ مرجائیں گے

مرکےبھی چین نہ پایا تو کدھر جائیں گے 

"Now they say with apprehension that they will merge.
Where will they go if they do not find peace even after death?"

 The text is a couplet in Urdu poetry. It expresses the speaker's apprehension about what will happen after they die. The first line suggests that the speaker worries that they will be merged or forgotten after their death. شیخ ابراہیم ذوق 1790 میں دہلی میں پیدا ہوئے تھے۔ جوآخری مغل بادشاہ بہادر شاہ ظفر کے استاد تھے۔ مرزا غالب کے ساتھ ان کی دشمنی مشہور ہے۔ سن 1854 میں ان کا انتقال ہوا۔ ہم یہاں اس عظیم شاعر کے 20 بڑے شیر پیش کررہے ہیں۔

Sheikh Ibrahim Zauq born in Delhi in 1790 and was the teacher of last Mughal king Bahadur Shah Zafar. He is famous for enmity with Mirza Ghalib. He died in 1854.
