بات کرتے نہیں کیوں حکمت و دانائی کی
ہو مسلماں تو کرو قدر بھی سچائی کی
बात करते नहीं क्यों हिकमत व दानाई की
हो मुसलमां तो करो क़दर भी सच्चाई की
Why do you not speak with wisdom and sagacity?
If you are a Muslim, then cherish and value the truth.
ظلم ہوتے ہیں جو مظلوم پے نا داروں پر
سارے عالم کے لیے بات ہے رسوائی کی
ज़ुल्म होते हैं जो मज़लूम पे ना-दारों पर
सारे आलम के लिए बात है रुसवाई की
The oppression inflicted upon the helpless and the destitute,
Is a matter of total disgrace for the entire world.
نہ یتیموں پہ کرم نا کسی بھوکے کا خیال
چھن گئی ہم سے وہ تاثیر مسیحائی کی
न यतीमों पे करम ना किसी भूखे का ख़याल
छिन गई हम से वो तासीर मसीहाई की
Neither compassion for orphans nor concern for the hungry;
We have lost that healing, merciful influence.
سارے عیبوں کو چھپانے پے تو قادر مولا
لاج رکھ لینا ذرا تو مرے ہرجائی کی
सारे ऐबों को छुपाने पे तू क़ादिर मौला
लाज रख लेना ज़रा तू मेरे हरजाई की
O Master, You are capable of concealing all faults;
Please protect the honor of this reckless/wayward servant of Yours.
در و دیوار مرے چیخ اٹھے ہیں یک لخت
جان نکلی ہے مرے زانوں پہ تنہائی کی
दर-ओ-दीवार मेरे चीख़ उठे हैं यक-लख़्त
जान निकली है मेरे ज़ानू पे तन्हाई की
Suddenly, my doors and walls have cried out in anguish;
Loneliness itself has breathed its last upon my knees.
سخت مشکل میں جو سجدوں سے سکوں ملتا ہے
عین باقی ہے تڑپ قلب میں اچھائی کی
सख़्त मुश्किल में जो सजदों से सुकूं मिलता है
ऐन बाक़ी है तड़प क़ल्ब में अच्छाई की
The peace found in prostration during deep distress
Is proof that a yearning for goodness still resides in the heart.
خوف یوں ہی نہیں دشمن کی صفوں میں یوسف
ہم نے تلواروں کے سائے میں جبیں سائی کی
ख़ौफ़ यूं ही नहीं दुश्मन की सफ़ों में यूसुफ़
हम ने तलवारों के साए में जबीं-साई की
There is no fear in the enemy ranks for no reason, O Yousuf;
We have bowed our foreheads even under the shadow of swords.
