"Dreaming in heedless slumber, O believers,
What's the use of increasing luxury and pleasure?
Open your eyes, remember your Lord,
What's the point of squandering youth in vain pursuits?
If you forget your Lord in your prime,
And bloom with the flowers of strength,
When old age creeps in, you'll regret,
What's the use of weeping and wailing then?
Even Pharaoh in his opulence was inebriated,
He continued to perpetrate injustice upon injustice.
When he drowned in the sea, it was said,
What's the benefit of this dominion?
The renowned tale of Shaddad is such,
When his soul departed his body,
Dying, he kept telling people,
What's the use of creating such a paradise?
In the wealth of Qarun was arrogance,
He opposed Moses and Aaron.
When the earth swallowed him, it was declared,
What's the use of such lifeless treasures?
The story of Nimrod and his denial,
He too rejected the worship of the Almighty!
The mosquito, after eating his sent one,
Said, what's the benefit of such arrogance!
Oh 'Muhsin,' be not arrogant in your fame,
One day, death will seize you with its clutches!
Cleanse your soul, perform good deeds,
What's the use of displaying your body?
