एक से एक है ग़ारत-गर-ए-ईमान यहाँ 

ऐ मिरे दिल तिरा अल्लाह निगहबान यहाँ 

छोड़ कर जाऊँ तिरे शहर की गलियाँ कैसे 

दिल यहाँ रूह यहाँ जिस्म यहाँ जान यहाँ 

किस से पूछूँ कि वो बे-मेहर कहाँ रहता है 

दिल-ए-बे-ताब मिरी जान न पहचान यहाँ 

जाने इस शहर का मे'यार-ए-सदाक़त क्या है 

बुत भी हाथों में लिए फिरते हैं क़ुरआन यहाँ 

टूट जाए तो इसे दिल का लक़ब मिलता है 

चाक हो जाए तो होता है गरेबान यहाँ 

और होंगे जिन्हें तूफ़ान डुबो देता है 

हम जो डूबे तो बहुत आएँगे तूफ़ान यहाँ 

अब यही लोग करेंगे नई दुनिया ता'मीर 

तू ने देखा है जिन्हें बे-सर-ओ-सामान यहाँ 

'सैफ़' क्या ख़ूब ज़माने की हवा बदली है 

तख़्त-ए-ताऊस पे आ बैठे हैं दरबान यहाँ

"One after another, faith's plunderers abound here,

Oh my heart, your Allah is the guardian here.

How can I leave the streets of your city?

The heart is here, the soul is here, the body is here, life is here.

Whom should I ask, where the merciless one resides?

Restless heart, unrecognizable soul is here.

What is the standard of honesty in this city?

Even idols hold Quran in their hands here.

When it breaks, it's called the title of the heart,

When it tears, it's the collar that's torn here.

And those who are drowned by the storm,

When we drown, we will come as the storm here.

Now these people will build a new world,

Who has seen those without heads or belongings here?

Saif, how beautifully the winds of time have changed,

At the throne of the peacock, the gatekeepers now sit here."
