मूसा समझे थे अरमां निकल जाएगा
यह ख़बर ही न थी तूर जल जाएगा

मेरी बालीं पे रोने से क्या फ़ायदा
क्या मेरी मौत का वक़्त टल जाएगा

क्या अयादत को उस वक़्त आओगे तुम
जब हमारा जनाज़ा निकल जाएगा

कमसिनी में ही कहती थी तेरी नज़र
तू जवां हो के आँखें बदल जाएगा

सब को दुनिया से जाना है इक दिन 'क़मर'
रह गया आज कोई तो कल जाएगा

Moosa samjhe the armaan nikal jayega
Yeh khabar hi na thi Toor jal jayega

Meri baalein pe rone se kya fayda
Kya meri maut ka waqt tal jayega

Kya ayaadat ko us waqt aoge tum
Jab hamara janaza nikal jayega

Kamsini mein hi kehti thi teri nazar
Tu jawan ho ke aankhein badal jayega

Sab ko duniya se jana hai ek din 'Qamar'
Reh gaya aaj koi to kal jayega

Moses thought his inner desire (to see God) would be fulfilled,
unaware that Mount Sinai (Toor) would burn to ashes.

What is the point of crying by my bedside now?
Will it delay the appointed hour of my death?

Will you visit to inquire about my health only
 when my funeral procession is leaving?

Even in your childhood, your eyes foretold
 that you would change your gaze as you grew up.

Everyone has to leave this world one day, Qamar;
if someone remains today, they will surely depart tomorrow.
