वो जितनी खुद-नुमाई कर रहा है,

खुद अपनी जग-हँसाई कर रहा है।

ज़रा सा जोश क्या दरिया में आया,

समुंदर की बुराई कर रहा है।

ज़रा हमने ज़ुबां क्या बंद कर ली,

ज़माना लब-कशाई कर रहा है।

The more he shows himself with pride,

The more he's mocked from every side.

With just a little rage, he flowed like a stream,

And now blames the ocean — quite extreme.

The moment I chose silence, withdrew,

The world began to speak — out of the blue.
