ग़ज़ल: दिल्ली की बर्बादी

चिरागों की वो रौशनी ढूँढते हैं,

ख़ंडहरों में भी ज़िन्दगी ढूँढते हैं।

मोहब्बत का था जो नगर, अब उजाड़ है,

हम टूटी हुई शादमी ढूँढते हैं।

वो कूचे जहाँ इश्क़ के गीत गाए गए,

अब आँसुओं में मधमी ढूँढते हैं।

दिल्ली की फ़िज़ाओं में थी ख़ुशबू कभी,

अब ख़ाक में भी ख़ुशबू-सी ढूँढते हैं।

कहानी है सदियों के ज़ख़्मों की ये,

हम बर्बादी में भी ख़ुशी ढूँढते हैं।

Ghazal: The Ruins of Delhi

We search for the glow of old lamps again,

Even in ruins, we seek life’s refrain.

The city of love, now deserted and bare,

In broken joys, we search for care.

The alleys once echoed with songs of desire,

Now tears blur the notes of that fire.

Delhi once breathed fragrance so rare,

Now dust holds the memories in air.

A tale of wounds from centuries past,

In ruin itself, we seek joy at last.
