Girte Hain Shehsawar Hi Maidan-e-Jung Mein

 

कहीं भी हूँ दुआ बन कर हमेशा साथ रही है।

 कभी दुनिया के मेले में मुझे खोने नहीं देती।

जवाँ बेटे ने बूढ़ा कर दिया है वक़्त से पहले,

मगर इक माँ है जो मुझको बड़ा होने नहीं देती।

भावार्थ (Meaning): यह पंक्तियाँ एक माँ के निस्वार्थ प्रेम और सुरक्षा की भावना को व्यक्त करती हैं। बेटा कहता है कि उसकी माँ की दुआएं हमेशा उसके साथ रही हैं, चाहे वह कहीं भी हो, और दुनिया की भीड़ में उसे कभी अकेला या गुम नहीं होने देती। अंतिम दो पंक्तियाँ बेटे की जिम्मेदारी (या शायद बेटे की वजह से आए तनाव) से माँ के जल्दी बूढ़े होने के दुःख को दर्शाती हैं, लेकिन साथ ही, वह माँ आज भी उसे बच्चा ही मानती है और बड़ा (परेशान या ज़िम्मेदार) होने नहीं देती।

Kahin bhi hoon dua ban kar hamesha saath rahi hai.
(Wherever I am, as a prayer, she has always stayed with me.)
Kabhi duniya ke mele mein mujhe khone nahin deti.
(She never lets me get lost in the fair/crowd of this world.)
Jawan bete ne boodha kar diya hai waqt se pehle,

(The young son has aged her before her time,)
Magar ik maa hai jo mujh ko bada hone nahin deti.

(But she is the one mother who doesn't let me grow up.)

Wherever I may roam, her prayers remain, 
Always a companion, dispelling every pain.
She never lets me vanish in the world's crowded fair,
This strong young son has brought her age before her share;
Yet, she is the only mother who won't let me grow up there.
